Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga
Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga stands on Mandhata Island in the Narmada river, Madhya Pradesh. The island's outline is traditionally described as resembling the shape of the sacred syllable Om, giving the temple its name.
About the Temple
The Sri Omkar Mandhata temple complex is reached by a bridge across the Narmada and includes the Omkareshwar sanctum along with the nearby Amareshwar temple on the riverbank, which some traditions also count among Shiva's twelve principal forms.
